Visit of Nettlestone Primary School, March 6th

Year 1 visited the Gallery in East Cowes linking learning to Celebrating the Bicentenary of the 200th anniversary of the RNLI and their studies on Grace Darling. Grace was the daughter of a lighthouse keeper and was active in the rescue of survivors of the Forfarshire, a paddle steamer which ran aground off the coast of Northumberland in 1838. The children learned about the changes to lifeboats following the Titanic disaster. They explored different artefacts, tried on replica clothing as well as choosing their favourite objects in the museum and sketching them.
